ComfortDelGro Joint-Venture With Go-Ahead Awarded Stockholm Metro Tender

  • Commencing in May 2025 for a term of 11 years, the contract will be ComfortDelGro’s largest rail operation outside Singapore and its first entry into Scandinavia
  • This latest award of contract adds to the Group’s growing international rail footprint which already includes operations in New Zealand and France
Singapore, 24 January 2024, – ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited (“ComfortDelGro”, “the Group”) through its joint venture with the Go-Ahead Group, Connecting Stockholm, has been awarded the contract by the Stockholm Public Transport Administration, Trafikförvaltningen, to operate and maintain the Stockholm Metro. This is ComfortDelGro’s first rail contract in Sweden and will be its largest rail passenger operation outside of Singapore. ComfortDelGro holds a 45% stake in Connecting Stockholm.
The contract will be for a term of 11 years with operations starting in May 2025. Connecting Stockholm will operate and maintain all of Stockholm Metro’s seven lines, including 100 stations, six depots and 107km of track. Its role as the appointed rail operator will include; customer service, planning and delivery of rail services, as well as fleet, station and depot facility maintenance. The contract also caters for Connecting Stockholm to provide project support for Trafikförvaltningen, to further develop and expand the Stockholm Metro in the future.

Both holding companies have a strong track record in managing sustainable public transportation. Go-Ahead Group is the majority owner of Govia Thameslink Railway, the UK’s largest and most complex rail network, and brings existing Scandinavian experience through rail operations in Norway and bus services in Sweden. ComfortDelGro, a multimodal mobility service provider, operates commuter rail services in Singapore through its listed subsidiary, SBS Transit, and Auckland One Rail in New Zealand. It has built up strong expertise in implementing advanced technology and innovation to ensure a high level of service quality and efficiency.

This will bring the total length of track operated by ComfortDelGro to over 310km.
